Conscious packaging and delivery
Together we make ordering as sustainable as possible

At Suitable we know that every step counts. Both in designing and producing clothing and in packaging and delivering your order. That is why we consciously choose environmentally friendly packaging and smart delivery options that limit the impact on the climate. On this page you can read how we are making our logistics increasingly greener and how you as a customer can make an impact with small choices.

What packaging
does Suitable use?
Smart packaging – for less waste and more reuse

At Suitable, we choose packaging that is both functional and environmentally conscious. Whether you shop online or in-store, we pay attention to material use, reusability, and waste reduction:

Online orders

  • Since 2023, we use shipping boxes that contain up to 85% less ink than before.
  • Shipping bags are the standard for less fragile items.
  • For garments that wrinkle easily or larger orders, we use cardboard folding boxes, available in multiple sizes, which eliminates the need for filler materials.

In our stores

  • Small bags are made from recycled plastic.
  • Large carrier bags are made from FSC-certified kraft paper, sourced from responsibly managed forests.

Interne shipments

  • Our shipping bags consist of at least 80% recycled plastic and feature a white design that uses less ink.
  • We also reuse boxes we previously received from suppliers. We try to use these for as long as possible.
Delivery with impact
This is how we do it

We not only make sure your package is delivered smoothly and on time, but also in a responsible way. Our logistics partners PostNL, DHL and FedEx use efficient delivery routes and increasingly rely on electric or cleaner vehicles, especially in city centers where environmental zones are in effect. Visit our delivery page for more information about the delivery process.

In addition to efficient packaging, you can choose whether or not to receive promotional material with your order. This helps prevent paper waste. We also encourage customers to order consciously, for example by using multiple delivery options such as collection points or picking up in a Suitable store.

What is the environmental impact of our deliveries?

Within the Netherlands, we use the services of PostNL for both deliveries and returns. In 2024, it took 319 grams of CO₂ to ship a package, well-to-wheel (source: Sustainability Report Q1 2025, PostNL). In total, we shipped 173,246 packages in 2024, resulting in 55.26 tons of CO₂ emissions.

Order consciously
Smart for you, better for the world

A stylish wardrobe starts with conscious choices. Ordering mindfully leads to fewer returns, less transport, and less waste. And it feels as good as it looks. Here are a few practical tips to consider for your next order:

  • Use a nearby pickup point

By collecting your package from a pickup point, you reduce transport kilometers. In fact, picking up your order by bike or on foot reduces CO₂ emissions by an average of 10% in the final delivery stretch!

  • Order what you need

The fewer packages on the road, the less packaging we need—and the fewer trips the delivery service has to make. You might consider waiting until you need several items or checking with friends or family to see if they want to order something too.

  • Check your size before ordering

Not sure about your size? Use our size charts, selection tools, or the sizing guide near the cart button. Still unsure? Contact our customer service for personal advice. This helps avoid unnecessary returns.

Tips for returns
Worry-free returns

Sometimes it's unavoidable: returning an item. Even then, you can still consider avoiding unnecessary transport and CO₂ emissions. That’s why we’ve gathered a few handy tips to help you make your return as sustainable as possible:

  • Reuse the original packaging

Our shipping boxes are specially designed to be reused easily. This helps reduce waste and supports a circular approach. Tip: open your order carefully so you can reuse the box in good condition!

  • Combine multiple items in one return shipment

Need to return several items? Place them all in one parcel. This saves on packaging material and transport. Avoid using duct tape, as it makes recycling the cardboard more difficult.

  • Walk or cycle to a drop-off point

If you’re bringing your parcel to a drop-off point, it’s more environmentally friendly to go on foot or by bike if possible.
